Roland Manger (GER)

Roland Manger is a co-founder and Managing Partner of Earlybird. His current domain focus is Software, Communication and Mobile.

Roland brings together long standing investment experience combined with entrepreneurial and operational experience. He was a board member of abaXX Technology AG (Stuttgart), where he was a driving force behind its sale to Cordys; also, as Board member of Purple Labs, Roland co-initiated its sale to Esmertec AG (now: Myriad Software Group AG, Zurich), which listed on the Swiss Exchange (SWX: ESMN). Further, he was a board member of Scoreloop AG (Munich) which was sold to RIM (NASDAQ: RIM; TSX: RIM). Roland also served on the board of Myriad Software Group AG (SWX: MYRN) and UPEK, Inc (Berkeley, CA) and is currently Chairman of the Board of OneShield Inc. (Westborough, MA).

Roland gained entrepreneurial experience when he joined the founder team of Cybernet AG, a provider of internet and system integration services which was subsequently listed on NASDAQ and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and later sold to PSINet and at Ditec AG, where he was Director of Business Development.

Previously he worked as a Strategy Consultant and Principal with Gemini Consulting in the telecom and media industries. He studied business, operations research and computer science at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, graduating with a Dipl. WiIng. (MSc equivalent) degree. Roland has an MBA from Georgetown University in Washington D.C
